Srinagar, Mar 09 (KNO): With only the last ten days of Ramadhan remaining, eateries across Kashmir are witnessing a surge in demand for special Iftar plates and buffet-style meals, making evenings increasingly busy at food outlets across the Valley.
From busy street stalls to upscale restaurants, food outlets have introduced a variety of Ramadhan-specific menus featuring traditional Kashmiri delicacies to attract customers looking to break their fast outside their homes.
As reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), many restaurants in Srinagar and other districts have begun offering curated Iftar platters that include a mix of local favourites such as kebabs, dates, refreshing drinks and dishes inspired by the famed Kashmiri wazwan.
The initiative, according to restaurant owners, has received an encouraging response from families and groups of friends who prefer communal dining during the holy month.
Residents say the growing trend reflects a changing Ramadhan culture in the Valley, where social gatherings around food have become more common. “People now like to explore different Iftar options and spend time with relatives and friends at restaurants,” said a Srinagar resident.
The trend is not limited to the summer capital alone. Restaurants and cafe owners in districts such as Baramulla, Sopore, and Shopian have also introduced combo Iftar deals featuring desserts, snacks and main courses, attracting a steady rush during evening hours.
However, some residents have raised concerns over rising food prices during Ramadhan, saying that the cost of a basic Iftar meal has increased compared to previous years. They urged authorities to keep a check on pricing to ensure affordability for the public—(KNO)
